About the programme
Are you overwhelmed with the rapid change of media? This new Emerging Media degree programme at Tampere University of Applied Sciences supports you to update your knowledge, develop your skills and expand your networks in Finland and internationally.
Emerging Media includes new formats, technologies and digital cultures such as virtual and augmented reality as well as constantly changing forms of mobile communications and social media.
During the studies at Emerging Media degree programme at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, various fields of emerging media are discussed and analysed. Based on your previous work experience and personal interests, you will select at least one focus area in which you develop your skills. The application fields can be, for instance, music or media production, arts, communications, marketing, digital learning, virtual collaboration and developing work practices.
Career
The occupational profiles of graduates are diverse depending on their prior professional experience and personal achievements during the studies. Graduates are qualified for leadership roles and demanding tasks in the area of art, media and innovation in creative industries and other industry sectors.
Study Content
- The largest study module is the Master’s thesis, comprising half of the study credits (30 cr). The Master’s thesis focuses on the execution and report of an innovative/artistic emerging media project.
- During the advanced professional studies (5 x 5 cr), students update their knowledge and acquire new know-how and skills in the field of emerging media. They explore and experiment how art and content creation are related to emerging media forms and technologies.
- They also study sustainable value creation from economic, environmental and social perspectives. Free-choice studies (5 cr) extend students’ knowledge and skills in a field that is relevant for their Master’s project.
